Several years ago, SPANA began with the goal of ensuring that single parent families are not alone when faced with the day-today duties of parenting and social wholeness.
Single Parents are Not Alone (SPANA) began in the spring of 2006 as a concept. As a single parent for several years, Miyoka Broussard had a desire to help other single parents going through similar challenges and successes. That vision became a reality in 2007 when SPANA became incorporated in Tucson, AZ and shortly after partnered with YES Network. In 2009, SPANA received its 501-C3 status.
Now based in Lafayette, LA, SPANA Acadiana is helping single parent families with this new local chapter.
